We are a growing commercial construction company seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment / Truck Mechanic to join our team in New Braunfels/Marion/Cibolo area. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing heavy equipment, commercial trucks, trailers, and construction machinery.

Job Description
The Heavy Equipment / Truck Mechanic will perform preventative maintenance, diagnose mechanical issues, and complete repairs on a variety of trucks, trailers, and heavy construction equipment. This position reports directly to the Operations Service Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures and help maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PMs) on commercial trucks, tractors, trailers, and heavy equipment.
  • Inspect equipment and vehicles to identify mechanical issues, worn components, and potential safety concerns.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Perform repairs on cooling systems, air systems, brakes, hydraulic pumps, lighting, engines, transmissions, drivetrains, clutches, steering, and suspension systems.
  • Perform general repairs, component replacements, and overhaul work on equipment and vehicles.
  • Diagnose equipment problems and determine the appropriate repairs needed to minimize downtime.
  • Complete maintenance records, repair orders, and documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Communicate equipment issues, repair progress, and maintenance needs to the Operations Service Manager.
  • Work closely with team members and management to prioritize repairs and meet operational deadlines.
  • Monitor parts, tools, and supplies and communicate inventory needs to help prevent delays.
  • Identify repairs that require outside vendors or cannot be completed in-house and notify management.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and the shop area in a clean and organized condition.
  • Follow proper procedures for the safe use of shop equipment, tools, and lifting devices.
  • Assist with equipment inspections and other maintenance-related tasks as needed.
  • Work additional hours and overtime as required by business needs.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in heavy equipment, diesel, truck, trailer, or fleet maintenance and repair.
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
  • Working knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, air brakes, electrical systems, and drivetrain components.
  • Ability to diagnose problems, identify repair solutions, and complete repairs efficiently.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision and manage multiple repair priorities.
  • Strong work ethic, dependable attendance, and a commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
  • Must be physically capable of performing assigned repairs and maintenance duties.
  • Basic hand tools are preferred but not required.
  • Driver’s License preferred but not required.
  • Welding and fabrication experience is a plus.
  • Experience with construction equipment, fleet maintenance, and preventative maintenance programs is a plus.

Work Schedule
  • Monday through Friday
  • Overtime available based on workload and business needs
  • Additional hours may be required to support equipment availability and operational demands.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
  • Work is performed in a shop environment and outdoors as needed.
  • Frequent standing, walking, lifting, climbing, bending, kneeling, and reaching.
  • Requires coordination and dexterity of the hands, arms, fingers, and legs when operating tools and performing repairs.
  • Ability to remain on your feet for most of the workday.
  • Ability to work in varying weather conditions, including hot, cold, and wet environments.
  • Exposure to dirt, grease, oils, odors, dust, loud noise, and other typical shop and construction site conditions.
  • Must be able to safely handle tools, equipment, and vehicle components associated with assigned duties.
